If you feel like you struggle with your weight every day yet still feel no motivation to lose weight or start a diet and exercise plan then you may be looking in the wrong places for motivation. Motivation is something anyone can create and this article shares how.
Motivation to lose weight
1. Focus on the positive. Motivation starts in the mind and you will want to consciously focus your mind on all of the wonderful things losing this weight will bring into your life. Think about how good your knees will feel or how much more active you will be and your motivation will grow.
2. Eliminate the negatives. Everyone deals with negative or limiting thoughts but this doesn’t mean you have to listen to them. When you hear yourself say, “I don’t think I can do this.” shout CANCEL and stop the thought in it’s tracks and then refocus in a more positive way, “There is nothing that can hold me back.”
3. Set yourself up for success. You want to create a habit of success by setting small achievable goals. I like to call these “process goals” because they are not looking directly at the scale but instead looking at creating better habits that lead to weight loss. Set a goal this week to exercise 5 days, eat a healthy breakfast each day or avoid sweets after dinner and when you succeed at that you will get a “can-do” spirit and feel your motivation rise.
4. Work with others. There is nothing more motivating then being part of a group of people who are all working toward the same goal. Find a group on line or in your area and you will greatly improve your motivation to lose weight.
