Acid Alkaline Diet

by admin on April 21, 2011

For as long as I can remember, I always seemed to have a cold and generally felt run down throughout the winter months, and to be honest, I never felt that good during the summer period either. I never really understood why this was, because I kept myself reasonably active, but nevertheless I couldn’t shake off the feeling of being fatigued, and generally ill for much of the time. I finally listened to my girlfriend’s nagging – as she was probably just fed up of hearing me coughing, spluttering and basically being a miserable so and so – and visited my doctor.

Little did I realize that this visit would change my outlook on life for good. What my GP told me left me shocked, but at the same time relieved that there was nothing greatly wrong with me, as well as being motivated to change things around for good. Basically my body was full of acid and this was down to my totally undisciplined dietary habits. He explained that I needed a huge shot of alkaline into my body, because its presence in our systems is essential for good health and that once I started getting the balance correct between it and my acid intake, I would feel 100% better.

I located the acidalkalinediet.com website and followed some of their recommendations and I would say within a matter days, certainly within a week, I felt 200% better – if that’s possible? – and it was all down to me altering my diet. I had never appreciated the need for magnesium in my body, but once I researched a little, I began to appreciate how important a balanced diet of alkaline and acid will reduce aches, pains and inflammations.

I started eating things such as: sweet potatoes, lettuce, green beans, peas, celery, spinach, broccoli, onions, and almonds; plus citrus fruits like: oranges, lemons and limes. I didn’t cut out all acid producing food, but did cut back on dairy and yeast products, bread, and some lavish meats. The results are staggering. My energy levels are through the roof, my digestion is so much better, and what’s more, my body shape and general appearance is now looking as good as it has ever done. This is all much to the delight I might add, of my girlfriend, who is obviously taking all the credit for insisting on me paying that visit to the medical experts in the first place.

In all seriousness, I had a routine and didn’t see any reason to change. I accepted my health wasn’t good, but just thought that was the way it was and was prepared to go through my life with it in a poor condition. I not only recommend people follow the acid alkaline diet, I insist on it! It could actually be a life saver.
